Drive-in shelves usually refer to driving vehicles (such as forklifts, trucks, etc.) into the shelf area to store and retrieve goods. There are different design methods (whether the end of the shelf is closed with support rods or not) to achieve first-in-last-out management of goods.
1. Features of drive-in shelves- Structural design: The shelves have no aisle separation, and forklifts can directly drive into the shelves to store and retrieve goods.
- High-density storage: suitable for small varieties and large quantities of goods, with high space utilization.
- Last-in-first-out (LIFO): Due to design limitations, storage and retrieval are usually required in the order of last-in-first-out.
2. Operation precautions
Forklift requirements: A dedicated counterbalanced forklift or a reach forklift must be used, and the operator must be trained.
Safety regulations:- The shelves must be firmly fixed to prevent tipping.
- The forklift must travel slowly to avoid colliding with the shelf columns.
- Goods must be evenly placed to avoid overloading.
- Lighting and marking: The shelf area must be well lit, and the load limit and aisle direction must be clearly marked.
3. Applicable scenarios- Cold chain warehousing (such as cold storage), beverages, food and other large-volume single-category storage.
- Warehouses that do not require high storage and access efficiency but need to save space.
